: The bigger issue is that PBS probably operates under the understanding that there are no viable American production studios. In other words, PBS needs to know if there is an American studio who can finish a show on time and on budget. Is
: there? The answer is yes, but it's a well-kept secret.

: Why is it a secret? Dahliní, donít you believe in advertising?

You WOULD have to bring that up! I always thought the quality of our work would be its own best advertising. OK, so I need to do a course in marketing ... gee whiz, I let down my guard just for a sec and you nail me with a roundhouse.

: As American animators, we might not complain if PBS spent $500,000 to get a show done here in the US, but as American
: taxpayers, we should be a little pissed off to find that they could make our tax dollars go TWICE as far - and get two shows
: produced for the same money - by subcontracting it to a Chinese production house.

: Reprinted from www.PBS.org:

: Welcome

:
: PBS, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is a private,
: non-profit media enterprise owned and operated by the
: nation's 348 public television stations. A trusted community
: resource, PBS uses the power of noncommercial television,
: the Internet and other media to enrich the lives of all
: Americans through quality programs and education services
: that inform, inspire and delight. Available to 99 percent of
: American homes with televisions and to an increasing
: number of digital multimedia households, PBS serves nearly
: 100 million people each week.

:
: The money intended to enrich American culture through the arts should also enrich and enable our own community of artists. Personally, I feel the money PBS has earmarked for animation production would be better spent if it was goiní to some quaint mid-western studio with the romantic notion that animation should still be done the old fashioned way, you know, by hand. Canít you see that that money, by all rights, was intended almost specifically, for you?

I'll vote for you for president, girlfriend.
