: : they could make our tax dollars go TWICE as far - and get two shows produced for the same money - by subcontracting it to a Chinese production house.
: And in return, you get two shows with half the quality compared to what American animators can do.
: You get what you pay for.
: Which has the best animation: A $500,000 Startoon, or two $250,000 cartoons by Akom?
Thank you for your sentiment.
But do you think PBS - or ANY of the Powers That Be - gives a rip about "quality"? I mean, how did Beavis & Butthead, or South Park, get on the air? Lack of style is becoming a FEATURE of today's popular shows. "Quality" is taking on mystical properties, like truth and love ... what IS "quality"?
Another thing: don't be too smug about Americans being "superior" even if we CAN define quality. The dummies who send them the work are the same ones to whom they have to answer. I have no doubt they could do better work if they were allowed to - know what I'm saying? In the mean time, we American animators are not in a position to be smug, because they're getting all the work. We have to figure out why, and then do something about it.
