Saw the film tonite at a sneak. Congrats to all the artists who worked on El Dorado. The artwork throughout is beautiful and inspiring--from the designs to the layout, color, and animation. . Unfortunately, the writing is extremely poor. I'm sure the story artists made it the best they could, but the script they had to start from just could not have been that good. The songs--well I could do without them also. Still, I question the idea that cheap shot and witless sexual innuendo and potty jokes (no matter HOW well animated) makes a film more "mature." It doesn't. There's a difference between "adult" and "mature." Someday, Jefferey will allow his artists the trust they deserve to make the mature film he so desperately wants. Films like "Iron Giant" and "Double Indemnity," and "My Neighbor Totoro" are miles ahead in that respect.
