I can tell you at DW they're doing it half-heartedly, from my vantage point. They chose 4 traditional animators to train on Maya for the film Spirit (I think about 20% of it will be CG). The problem is that only those 4 got the training, even though there were others who very much wanted formal training and weren't being kept fully busy with production. When I asked the head of training if I could just get access to Maya to learn on my own in my off time (there are plenty of SG workstations available), I got the run around. So DreamWorks has started, but it's a tepid approach.
