: If you have an aggressive webmaster then why do you need to do the registration thing. I for one do not like the nature of having to register, I would, but it somehow feels like answering to big brother.
Just a quick answer as I'm a bit busy at the moment and still need to acquaint myself with the nuts and bolts of the new message board.
It looks right now that the registration feature comes part and parcel with the design of the new message board. While registration is certainly a useful feature in helping to moderate the board it doesn't look like there's much choice in the matter.
And as far as answering to Big Brother goes, while the board will be moderated, there's no intention of squelching it. Dissenting opinions are encouraged as they promote useful discussion rather than a bunch of posts wherin everyone agrees with each other and nobody says anything of interest. Moderation will be enforced more as an attempt to maintain order and respect for everyone involved than to curtail the voice of anyone who has an opinion which Charles or I don't happen to agree with or understand fully.
To that end though, the new message board will give folks a chance to moderate themselves and edit their previous posts, which should come in handy for anyone who builds up too big a head of steam and posts something which they may later wish they hadn't.
It should be fun. Hang loose and things'll get underway shortly.
