: You bring up a good point. How do those of us who are willing to fight for responsible actions by our employers explain our feelings to our more cautious co-workers? I've only been working for 5 years but from the start I've been appalled at the attitudes of the studios towards the animators. Other people that I have worked with always wish I would not say anything and just endure the humiliation doled out by the execs. I can't stand it. How do we break this culture of complacence?

I struggle with that, too, especially since I've been in the industry about as long as you have, and hardly have the stature to be too much of a leader. But I have found that by being willing to speak up or take a stand in a professional manner, that at least some people around me get the message that having a backbone won't immediately get you fired or blackballed. In other words, lead by example as much as you can. My experience is that even if most coworkers remain sheep, it's still worth it, if only for your own self esteem.
