: Lately i've become disenchanted with the direction the animation industry is heading. Runaway production causing animators to seek new work or retrain in digital animation. I don't plan on becoming an animator, however i'm interested in character design but i worry about the job security, if a show is cancelled or runs it's course will the character designers be reassigned to new shows or be forced to look for work elsewhere? Can anyone elaborate on the matter.
: Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately that IS the state of the industry, if a show is cancelled, so are you. You would think that the employers would take advantage of having a creative staff in house and develop more shows and keep everyone on board, but no, THAT would make too much sense. But as far as where the animation industry is heading, I truly believe (some call me a dreamer) that RIGHT NOW the industry is open to change, purely by the state of technology and how powerful that technology makes the individual using it. Don't be disenchanted, your a artist and in my book that makes you a problem solver first and foremost....so, whats the problem and how are you gonna solve it.
