Thanks for your points on the Union. They were very helpful in helping me understand what it's all about.

I think perhaps the best thing you mentioned was the legal action they're willing to take when big studios try and practice unethical if not illegal games with employees' salaries and time. The benefits travelling with you is also nice.

: Now let me ask you: what is so terrible about the union? What makes you want to avoid being a part of it?

I guess I can't say it's terrible per se. I would say that it could use some improvement. From your description they sound a bit more like a combo platter of a retirement investor/legal team acting on your behalf, that you hire year to year, more than a Union. Granted, I don't know much about Unions. But it's certainly not bad.

Why I have an aversion to the Union is because I don't live and work in LA. I honestly think a Union would kill us out here in Chicago. Any pressure at all on the studios feeding us, and the studio would crumble. Honestly, if we get laid off for three months, it's not because Jon doesn't want to pay us. It's because there isn't any money. A Union just wouldn't help one way or the other in our situation. Our pond just isn't big enough yet for any sort of politics, I guess.

Thanks again, though.
