First of all i would like to introduce myself; I am an aspiring character designer in search of work in the animation industry. I stumbled upon this forum last night and I was up until 3:00 am reading your posts, boy am i glad i found it. I may not share your sentiments as to what is currently occuring in the amination indusrty since it does not directly affect me at the moment, however i am aware that it will have a direct impact on my future endeavors. Right now I am sort of in a state o "limbo", i can't afford to enroll at Calarts or Art Center, however i've been told by many directors and producers that my work is on par, if not better than others working in the field and enough to land a job. I guess the question i ask my self repeatedly is : "Why can't i even land a clean up job?" Living an hour away from LA kind of makes it hard to find leads and network so it seem like I'm always a step behind when it comes to finding a jop opening. I noticed that many of you seem to have a vast knowledge of this industry and was wondering if you could recommend more affordable schools i was looking into the "Animation Academy" but i haven't heard any comments from industry insiders.
I thank you in advance for any help you may provide, working in a warehouse just isn't cutting it anymore.
