Strike Day 2000!
We won't be marching down the street or causing a big disturbance in the area, aside from having a lot of cars converging at that intersection. It's going to be very professional. Go to Sportsmen's when you get a chance and check out the Empire Room. You'll see what I mean.
Since we did this already last year, we've got a model for the meeting. It was militant, but it was controlled. Very productive.
If we can get 200 artists we'll be making a big statement. Frankly, I think we can get more, but I'll settle for whatever we wind up with. It's not only the quantity, it's the quality of the individuals that I'm pushing for. The numbers will help drive home the point that the artists are unhappy with the system, that we're fed up with animation management as it's evolved and that we're repositioning ourselves for the future. The people that attend will give the event the credibility that it deserves by virtue of their position within the industry and the community.
So far, word of mouth and this web site are the only thing that's passing the news around. I'd like to keep it that way, but if anyone out there wants to print out the notice about the meeting and pass it around the studios, be my guest. Just make sure you get the info straight.
