: You're correct. Artists are easy to manipulate,
: and a good exec knows how to keep them in their place. I know too many animators who are basket
: cases. It's sometimes hard to deal in what is
: essentially a solitary industry, in competition
: with your fellow artists, and you are competing
: for that promotion to lead artist, therefore you
: are subject to backbiting, gossip, all the bad
: side of human nature. You may pal around and have
: lunch together, but underneath you all can't really like each other. You get together to talk
: about each other. It's sad. Some get so discouraged at the "new" atmosphere, that they
: quit animation altogether.
That in itself is sad. It is all such a opinion oriented business and truth rarely gets spread in rumors.
: And the cause for all this, is applying current
: business principles to the animation industry,
: "that artists are replacable, like any other
: component." Artists are looked on as the least of
: people by executives who have never drawn in their lives, but they now make the decisions over
: those who do.
Exactly. They use us against each other by appealing to the ego while they really just think you are a cog.
