: The Lion King was basically a bible story. But that's not the point. I'm talking about the fact that they couldn't shake the katzemburg formula--especially when it comes to the musical.

The Lion King is a thinly veiled re-telling of "HAMLET." Shakespeare's HAMLET. Nothing more, nothing less.
