Don't hate Pokemon. Embrace it. This movie is once again proving that animation is a powerful medium, and one that should not be taken lightly. This show from nowhere has opened up doors that many others haven't. It's different and takes us to new territory, and that folks is the key. Kids and adults want to see new stuff, not rehashed Beauty and the Beast material, and Pokemon is really different from the good ol american stuff.

It's the reason why Beavis, Ren and Stimpy and Rugrats were so successful. Different shows with different types of characters. Now look at Uncle Walt. He made different movies about different subjects, Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Bambi and Dumbo were very different pictures. Walt kept the quality up, but if you look at Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmations and Sword In The Stone, they are all very different from a styling, story telling, and music perspective. Each film doesn't try to follow a formula. That's where the success lies. The public wants new and different, they want to be surprised and taken somewhere special.

Iron Giant did that very well, but didn't have the synergy to make it a success. Pokemon attacked from all angles insuring it to be a huge hit.

We need to really look close at this Phenomenon and take advantage of the examples it displays.

There is much to be gained from Pokemon.
