Charles, I wouldn't in any way, shape, or form say that American animators are any better than Canadians, Australians, Koreans, or any other nationality at animating. The simple fact is, America is the Great Consumer, and we have a peculiar appetite. We know the entertainment recipe. We can feed ourselves. Or at least supervise the cooks in our own kitchens.

I repeat my previous assertments that we need expert administrators. You certainly don't want capable artists bogged down with such tasks, and being an incompetent artist shouldn't qualify you either. But I am believing, more and more, what you are saying: that everything we animators try to do goes through an executive filter that burns a huge portion of the budget up in smoke, through combined personal greed, pride, and mismanagement.

Somebody has to start schmoozing. The money has got to be rooted out. Money people are used to handing it over to suits, not artists. We have to convince them. Can we behave?

I'm happy to help in any way I can.
