There are two of my co-workers who have. Both were being dismissed for reasons other than their work . It wasn't so much an adversarial situation as it was really bad communication and between the company and the employee. Anywhere else non union the artists would have been out with no avenue of appeal. One of the best things about the union is that it lays the ground rules for proper relations.
Most employers don't need that but a few do.
