: I posted a message a few months ago about a simple way of financing a project - credit cards. Buy digital production equipment with credit cards and transfer the balance to new cards that offer low introductory rates. That's one way of getting things going if you're serious, but you have to be careful not to let it get out of hand.
I agree that investing in your own digital equipment is a great step towards preparing yourself for the future in the every industry. But you don't need to really go in to debt in order to obtain the tools you need. The price of quality comuter equipment is very reasonable. What you do need is a clear idea of want you want to be able to accomplish with your own home studio. Once you have that it is easier to research for and purchase the computer that is right for you. From there you can add a component, like a scanner, cd burner, video deck, tablet, external drives, etc. every month or so and space out the cost of building up a healthy little studio. Best of all, I believe it's all tax deductible.
Anyway, this site is fabulous! Go, artists, go!
