: I was on the road for a few days. While traveling about, I happened to notice all of the "Rugrats" backpacks and "Pokemon" tee shirts that little kids were wearing. Amazing how influential animated characters can be for children as well as for commerce.

: While waiting for my flight at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, I happened to be watching the business report on CNN. To my amusement, a commercial for the "Power Puff Girls" aired. At the risk of making something more out of this than it warrants, it made a somewhat profound impression on me.

: Thought I'd share this experience with everyone as a little reminder of the significance of what we do and the impact our industry and our craft has upon society as a whole.

First of all, Charles, how could you stop at O'Hare and not give me a call? Bastard!

Yes, TV cartoons are a big part of our culture. We (animators) should have more input in that - what a concept! You wouldn't believe the s**t I'm up against just trying to do my freakin' job. I swear, they go out and find the least qualified person they can, and only after an extensive search do they put the most inept person in charge of animation production.

It's been a bad week. We're looking at round one of layoffs.
