On Sunday, August 15 at 3:00 P.M., there is going to be a massive march in Hollywood in an effort to stop runaway production. The March is sponsored by a group called FTAC (Film and Televison Action Committee). They describe themselves as "a coalition of working people, businessmen, professionals and artists fighting to keep Hollywood the world's capital of film, television and commercial production."
The gathering point is North Orange Drive behind Hollywood High School. The march will work its way down Hollywood Boulevard from Mann's Chinese Theatre to the Pantages Theater.
The rally will be in support of the passage of the Kuehl/Wildman bills through the California State Senate, "the first step towards dealing with the runaway production crisis." The FTAC encourages everyone who'll be participating to bring signs, banners, friends and family, and to wear your industry hats and shirts. (I wonder if executive effigy burning will be permitted.)
If you live in the LA area, work in televison or motion picture production and are motivated about this issue, then come on down as Bob Barker would say. For more information, call 800-863-6134 or visit the FTAC's web site at www.ftac.net.
Tell others about this. It should be fun.
