: Hello All,
: This is my first post here after seeing this page here a few months ago.
: & I'd just like to ask what the state of business is like right now
: in Southern California? (from the look of things here, kinda bleak)
: I am a recent graduate from college, getting my Bachelors in Arts w/ an
: emphesis on animation. I've not sent any portfolios to any of the
: major companies like Disney, Dreamworks, Fox, or W.B. because in part
: of the negative discussion that I've heard regarding the state of the industry
: on this group and from friends whom are currently in & out of the animation
: business. But I was considering sending packets of my work out anyway
: (the usual reel, folio, & res.) sometime this week.
: So I'm asking those of you who are now currently residing in
: the trenches, "Is it worth my effort to do so?"

: -Tom

Tom,

What are your alternatives? Can you apply your degree towards a pre-med program?

You should never be hesitant. Send your stuff - whatever you're PROUD of - to anyone and everyone. Who knows - you may have the stuff that turns this business around, my friend.

Frankly, anybody who wonders if it's "worth my effort" to start his career, has me pretty worried. Effort is everything, pal.
