Congratulations on your success and on your victories soon to follow!
See what happens when you get off your ass and fight!
The Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists Local 839 IATSE announced that artists at the oldest non-union studio in all of the L.A. animation industry, the infamous DIC Entertainment, have voted to go Union by a margin of 60% to 40%. This legally obligates DIC to negotiate a Union contract.
The Union also announced that FOX Television Animation has decided to sign a Union Contract for their "Family Guy" production.
They also announced that the vote at Bohbot Kids Network (BKN) appears to obligate that studio to go Union as well.
When it rains, it poors.
The Union has made Sunbow Entertainment their next target. They filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to represent employees there.
All of this is great news! I wish the Union leadership continued success. I'm sure that all independents feel the same way that I do.
This is what happens when animation artists get together and assert their power.
This is only the beginning.
