Thank you, Charles, for putting together this web
site. I wish I could have attended the meeting on
April 1st, but having moved back to Ontario
(Canada) that wasn't an option.

I especially found reading the first few pages
with historical information interesting. It
helped me to understand that my boyfriend and I
arrived in LA, seeking animation work, at exactly
the wrong time: Fall of '98, when many animators
already working in LA were facing layoffs. At the
time we both felt that we must be terrible artists
indeed to be rejected by every single studio we
had applied to.

Anyway... it seems coming back home to Ontario was
a wise move. I'm working at the studio I worked
for before I left; keying hilite, tone and cast
shadow mattes for TV commercials. I'd rather be
tweening or doing key cleanup, but at least it's
a paycheque. Or would be if I hadn't been laid
off again... being part time, when ever there is
a gap between productions I am out the door.

On a posative note my boyfriend and I have decided
to go ahead with our own production, using our
home computers as production tools. It's a
strange little film that likely no one else will
want to see, but at least we'll enjoy working on
it. :)

Thanks once again, to you and the people who have
posted to this board, for the inspiration and
links to info on independant animation.
