Um... how are people dressing for this?

I know it's a goofy question... so you needn't point it out to me.

Some people come straight from work in casual clothes, others dress up. I hear some may be wearing vintage clothing this year to honor the 50th anniversary of the Union. Normally I would dig up a great vintage ensemble from my collection, but I won't have time this year.. I can only stay for a bit.

Between the current state of the animation industry and the party's hosted bar, let's hope there will be a fleet of taxicabs on standby to take home all of us tippling toonsters!

I had to send out the invites for this...my hand is still sore from those labels...

I asked my boss at the Union what the appropriate attire would be...her answer?

"...some will be in suits, some will be in jeans...most will be coming from work..so whatever..."

shirt and pants...good enough.

Time for everyone to log off the computer, run a comb through that matted hair, and head over to the Pickwik. The party has started.

Wow...whatta turn-out!!

Great to see everyone--some folks I hadn't seen in a looooong time. Way too long.

Glad I went. Happy Holidays, everyone.

A huge hit! Hats off to Guild Vice Prez. George Sukara for doing all the legwork finding this perfect new venue for the event--The Pickwick Banquet facility in Burbank. We must have had over 500 people there--when I left around 9, the place was jammin'!! Hope all of you who dropped by had a great time, that you will remember it as a big plus for the Holidays and that you come back again in 2003! Thanks again to the Guild office staff and fellow board members for a job well done!

a little side note: the room was overcrowded. It safely was for 300 people and since there were more then that, the manager wouldn't let the lights be dimmed. It was very bright in there.
With too many people in the room and some with small children, she didn't want any accidents in case there was an emergency.

She suggested the room next door, which was empty { it holds 500 safely }. Maybe this is an idea for next year, just don't know how much extra for cost.

I found her suggestion for the DJ to turn up the music to clear out some of the older gents and ladies sort of funny. The poor DJ was hearing it from all sides: turn it up, turn it down, its too bright in here,etc etc. { I thought he was going to take out his vancouver made koho stick and pucks and start making some head shots }

thanks for the free beer and t-shirt.

Yeah,Pudd,Guild Biz Rep Steve Hulett was saying the same thing..that with the unexpectedly huge turnout we had the larger room would have been the best choice. I think it's a pretty safe bet for next year.

It was an awesome party! Yes, next year we'll be in the larger room. Aside from almost getting shut down by the very efficient Burbank police, it couldn't have gone better. Thanks to George, Jeff, Steve, Kat, Marla, and all the exec board who made it happen.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the party, but, Toronto to Burbank is one helluva commute.

Though, it might interest you to know, Max the Mutt had IT'S holiday party last night, and I had a rather important part to try help make it a success...

Guess who played Santy Claus for all the kiddies?

Great party, great music, great industry I work in. I'm privileged and proud to be a small part of such a fantastic creative community. So many talented, incredible people. Thanks to the Animation Guild and all those responsible for organizing it. That was a lot of fun. My hangover wasn't too bad either. Good thing I remembered to take some aspirin before I passed out.

Saw many old friends, but there was such a huge crowd that I never got around to saying hello to everyone I knew. Besides, I felt reponsible for making sure that the bar didn't fall over. I did a damn good job of it too. Notice how it never moved all night.

Happy 50th Anniversary. Wishing you many, many more. Looking forward to next year's bash.

I love ya man.

I was glad you came, Charles. Sorry I didn't get to do more than just say 'Hi.' You're right about what a creative, talented community this is. I'm already looking forward to next year's party, and all the great work that will done in 2003 that we'll be celebrating then.

But were you responsible for their temporarily shutting it down around 9:30-10pm?
