Take a look at this beautiful animation using a cut out technique. It originates from 18bis in Rio de Janeiro. This is a free interpretation of a poem by famed Chilean Pablo Neruda. Check out the 18bis Facebook page here. As an added bonus the making of video follows the film.

A virtual insitution on the AnimationNation Forums since 1999, Snakebite Cortez has recently begun to record videos and has been sharing them with us. An outspoken advocate of independence in the creative community, Snakebite's opinions are often contrarian and controversial compared to what the mainstream community may be feeling, yet what he has to say has wisdom and value. A veteran of both comics and animation he is renowned as a brilliant Photoshop artist, fashion designer, tattoo designer, event coordinator, gallery founder and all around bad boy in a good way. Follow this link to see more of his work.
Check out two of his latest videos. The first addresses his views on the current state of the VFX industry in Hollywood and the second addresses ideas for contracts for independent creators in work for hire situations. Snakebite pulls no punches so be aware...

Aren't popular characters supposed to head straight to TV as their own series? Not any more! The "Angry Birds' video game franchise from Rovio is going to the Web instead. Do you think it will be successful? Can an animated series make it if it's not on television? Well, the trailer for the series is on YouTube and in the course of less than two days it has garnered 642,659 views. I think it will do just fine.
