Even a gloomy day has its beauty and purpose. Here's a short that imposses traditional character animation on live action to underscore that point. A graduation film by James Lancett and Sean Weston from Kingston University in London with music by Thomas E. Brown.

Our friends at Bent Image Lab in Portland, Oregon has produced multiple skits for IFC’s “Portlandia”.
The first segment is called “Rats 2” and is a continuation from Bent’s “Zero Rats” piece from last year’s season. This year the rats are featured in multiple episodes. In one episode John, Fred and Carrie Rat publish a human tell-all and in another episode they look for a new home throughout Portland’s rougher neighborhoods. The “Rats Move” segment airs in a three part story arc during that episode.
The second animated segment features a dolphin that has to deliver bad news to the underwater sea creatures of Portland.
Nice stop motion all the way! Check out their videos...

Yet another example of just how massively successful a project can become through crowdfunding. And this is only the beginning. Imagine what many will experience once this new system of financing projects and pre-selling products really matures.
Take a look at the 3Doodler campaign on Kickstarter. Their goal was $30,000. As of this writing they have raised $2,069,418 through 23,210 backers for this fun new product with 19 days still left in the campaign. The group behind it is WobbleWorks LLC in Boston, Massachusetts. Wacth the video for info on the 3Doodler and follow updates on the Forum topic.

This cartoon was created in his spare time over the course of three weekends. It went online on YouTube on February 18 last month and almost immediately went viral with 115,527 views as of this writing. The animator is a very talented artist by the name of David Gemmill. David was my student at The Animation Academy in Burbank around 10 years go. He has since gone on to become a premier storyboard artist in the industry with tenures at Nickelodeon, Disney TV and is currently at Cartoon Network. David is successfully balancing his career as a studio artist with a burgeoning independent following. Take a look and have a laugh at "Sexxi Batman". Be advised that it may be NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK and is NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. Here's the Forum topic.
