North Korean Animation
Written by Charles
Thursday, 05 April 2012 20:38

I brought this topic up last summer, and ANer Ari who goes by Bloodwind on the Forums started a topic on the same subject.

North Korea has a long tradition of producing quality animation. Although almost all of theglobalobservatory.org it is wrapped in political propaganda, it is none the less very fine work that I'm happy to bring to a wider awareness by featuring it here on AN's homepage. This topic is being developed with more North Korean animation and you're welcome to follow it here. Meanwhile, let's take a look at what Bloodwind brought to our attention. There's no translation or subtitles available and I don't know when it was made, but the quality of animation can still be appreciated as well as the message that the regime is trying to buy propecia without a prescription convey.

Here's a video I discovered recently that went online a couple of years ago and is well worth sharing as it gives us a good look inside Pixar's studio, including John Lasseter's office and a glimpse at their swimming pool and drug cialis volleyball court. It's from CNN and was taped when Pixar was producing 'Up'.

Pixar Art Auction - Artists Help Japan - April 5 2012
Written by Charles
Wednesday, 04 April 2012 01:14

Just learned about this through the blog of Pixar story artist John Nevarez who is formerly of my school, The Animation Academy in Burbank.

There's an art auction fundraiser going on for the benefit of relieving victims of last year's massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Here's the blog dedicated to the effort.

This is your chance to get some great artwork from several legendary Pixar artists. Participating artists include John Nevarez, Ronnie del Carmen, Enrico Casarosa and many others. It was organized by Dice Tsutsumi.

All of the proceeds will be going to MercyCorps which is dedicated to the cause of providing earthquake / tsunami relief in Japan. The auction goes on until April 5, two days from today. Check it out on Ebay.
