A producer of animated short films in Korea, Leeyongil has come up with an intriguing rendition of an ancient Greek story about judicial morality. Combining 2D and 3D methods for a traditional look the filmmaker effectively utilizes text in the unfolding of the tale.
In support of the "Little Billy" Kickstarter campaign Simpsons animator Chance Raspberry has given us a sneak peek at the animatic for the opening of the show. Chance created this sequence when he was a student at California State University Northridge and The Animation Academy in Burbank. The project is trailblazing in its content as it focuses on the misadventures of a boy in the 1980s who has special behavioral issues that are just being identified by the medical community at the time and how he continues on with his happy life in spite of himself. A short film just released by Lucas Gray, an animator working on The Simpsons and Family Guy. Lucas has effectively illustrated important aspects of a recent speech by US President Barack Obama. For many years AnimationNation has hosted respectful political dialogue on our Forums and encouraged a wider involvement of the animation community in matters beyond simple entertainment. This is a great example of the kind of statement that can be made with the creativity of the medium.
