Walt Disney's Grave on his Birthday - Dec 5 2013

As I do every year since 2008 I paid my respects to Walt Disney on his birthday to honor him. Here's the video of my visit to Walt's grave on the occasion of his 112th birthday. This year it was a little different as you'll see once you view the video. Got in a bit of a quagmire with the flowers.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1901. He died in Burbank, California on December 15, 1966.

The flowers come from my good friend Dan Codron of Flowers By Dan in North Hollywood, California. He was the corporate florist for the Disney Company for many years and he always supplies the flowers on my trips to Walt's resting place.

In addition to the video there's photos of interest on the Forum topic with shots of other graves of notoriety from Forest Lawn in Glendale, California.

Happy to share in the celebration of Walt's life and memory...

SEC Approves Crowdfunding for Company Stock

If you've been frequenting AN for the past few years you know what an outspoken advocate I've been for crowdfunding. Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo have revolutionized how business is done in animation and many other fields as well. The latest developments in crowdfunding have pushed the envelope even further now that the US Securities and Exchange Commission has approved the sale of company stock through this process.

Not only will artists, creative individuals and entrepreneurs be able to raise capital through specific project oriented campaigns, they'll be able to sell stock in their company to investors through the crowdfunding.

This is a huge step forward for independents looking to build a financial foundation by raising money for what they want to do. One of the sites currently available for company stock sales through crowdfunding is EquityNet. In fact their video went online today and it's animated! Take a look at what we can expect from this new and innovative way of doing business. There's more information available about equity crowdfunding on the AN Forum topic.

Here's another excellent testament as to how varied animated content has become internationally and on an educational level no less. "Big Game" originates from The Animation School in Cape Town, South Africa. Follow the exploits of a hunter as he tries in vain to subdue a strange creature whose lack of intellect and simple base emotions helps to preserve his existence and overcome his adversary. Many talented individuals share credit on the project.
