Hi! Today was my last day of school and since I'll have more time to draw now, I thought I might as well make a new thread and update it throughout summer. I'll update this thread frequently. Please leave some feed back on my sketches! Thanks. Larry the Bird A lanky yet intelligent bird

Here's a few suggestions on how to approach the character from a basic design standpoint predicated upon the approach you're taking. Click on the image for a better view. Incorporate fundamentals into your work. You'll get the hang of developing appealing characters. Keep at it and good luck!

In general you're on the right track. Let me pose this question to you. If you were at Pixar and these drawings were a job you had to do, would you be comfortable showing them to John Lasseter?
Take your time. Finish each drawing. Bring it to a sense of completion. Be thorough and professional. Frankly this would not fly in my class. It would not be acceptable work. Spend more time on each sketch without leaving it looking like it's half done. That's the main thing ya gotta do. Bring it on home and finish it. Hope you can appreciate my comments, they're meant to encourage.

those sketches were made on an iPad so its tremendously hard to do clean up. However, from now on when I sketch on paper or in SBP, I'll do clean up My first attempt to do perspective when i upload the IMG to AN, it makes it too big and it doesnt fit in the screen so here's the direct link http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii5 ... PERSP1.jpgheres the IMG even though

Iron Duck drawing is looking okay but again... Where's the construction and your attention to fundamentals. You're not taking the time you need to get this right. Look at the lettering for example. Would you show this to Lasseter if you worked for him? Look at how Pete Emslie is drawing in the videos above and thoroughly emulate that approach in your work. The perspective drawing can be improved as well. Start with 1 point perspective and work on establishing solid compositions. Establish a perspective grid when you initiate the process of drawing a background like this. Here's a recent example from our BG Design class at the Academy.Discipline yourself to incorporate basic fundamentals into your work and strive to be professional in the presentation of your art. You'll improve faster, your skills will get stronger and you'll attract peers and develop fans.
