My first post in this forum. My name is Chris Smallfield and I'm a 3D Vfx artist, working in LA for about 6 years and in Berlin, Germany for the last three. I am currently developing with a partner, a cartoon series to pitch to network and cable channels. I'm doing some reasearch at the moment and considering designing it to be 3D, since it's the area I know best.
Anyhow, I am looking for opinions on what has made any particular 3D animated series good, or what makes them bad, in comparison to their 2d counterparts.
I am speifically looking at 22min, 13-16 episodes in a season kind of shows.
I've compiled a list of CG shows that I've been analyzing, feel free to add any to the list that I might have missed.
-Tak and the Power of Juju
-Green Lantern the Animated Series (upcoming)
-Rolie Polie Olie
-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
-Star Wars: Clone Wars
-Sid the Science Kid
-Father of the Pride
-Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles
-Donkey Kong Country
-Jane and the Dragon
Thanks! I look forward to taking part in this forum!
Yes! Pocoyo! I was trying to remember the name of that one. It's really nice. Thanks!
That's a very comprehensive list you put together space and also welcome to AN. Checking out your videos you do some kick butt stuff.
The variety and scope of CG in television animation is wide and reading through the list you can see that it's historic too.
Whoa! Came back to check out the forums and saw my name on the front page! I'm really honored. Now I've got to live up to it ...
