International Family Film Fest - Hollywood - March 21-25 '1217th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL FAMILY FILM FESTIVAL MARCH 21-25, 2012 FILM & SCREENPLAY DEADLINE NOVEMBER 18, 2011 The IFFF champions indie filmmakers and screenwriters and offers state-of-the-art theaters and a superb “meet-and-greet” environment for networkers in the heart of Hollywood. The competitions are open to all U.S. and International filmmakers/screenwriters of all ages, both for professionals and students in the feature, shorts, student shorts and youth fest (ages 8-18) categories. 2012 Film categories: drama, comedy, animation, documentary, musical, mixed-media. 2012 Screenplay categories: drama, comedy, animation, sci-fi/fantasy, musical. Awards are given to the winners in all categories, plus the audience favorite award – Top Applause Award!! Panel Discussions on trending industry topics, Youth Educational Workshops on Saturday, March 24th plus the Screenwriters Showcase on Sunday (March 25th) afternoon. The IFFF - Youth Fest! films and screenplays will have a separate Awards Ceremony on Saturday after the screening of their films. The International Family Film Festival (IFFF) has again extended the Extended Deadline for film and screenplay submissions to January 13, 2012. “A large number of filmmakers and writers have expressed interest in submitting their newest projects to the IFFF and simply need the extra month coming out of the holidays,” said IFFF film programmer and co-founder, Patte Dee McKee. “Both the executive staff and film jury agree that by extending the deadline, a more diverse and robust family film offering will be presented come next March.” As a reminder to support the IFFF, please check out the Store on the IFFF website for gift ideas, AND the eBay auction for the 2012 Alaska Fisherman’s trip that is now active. It’s a fantastic experience at a great value and it too, helps support the IFFF. .............. ........... 2012 "FRIZ AWARD" FOR ANIMATION is JENNIFER YUH NELSON IFFF 2012 "Friz Award" for Animation JENNIFER YUH NELSON (Director) has lent her talents to four of DreamWorks Animation’s motion pictures: 2008’s “Kung Fu Panda” (as head of story), 2005’s “Madagascar” (as story artist), 2003’s “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas” (as head of story) and 2002’s “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” (also as story artist). She is now sitting in the director’s chair, helming “Kung Fu Panda 2.” Prior to joining DreamWorks Animation, Nelson worked at HBO Animation, developing various projects and short series. She has worn many hats, serving as director, story artist and character designer for HBO’s animated series “Spawn,” which won an Emmy Award in 1999 for Outstanding Animated Program. Nelson’s career in animation has spanned several countries, including Korea and Japan, where she oversaw animation for HBO. Nelson has also worked in Sydney, Australia, serving as a story artist and illustrator for the live-action feature “Dark City” for Mystery Clock Productions. Nelson attended California State University, Long Beach, where she received a BFA in illustration. Nelson has also published several independent comic books. ..........
