Rise of the Planet of the Apes - coming August 5 '11

I listened to a review of this movie on the radio the other day. They mentioned that no apes were used in the filming at all. They're entirely CG. Very impressive.

The trailer looks good.

Here's the trailer for the original movie from 1968. No apes were used in this movie either.

What a difference 43 years makes.

I doubt if anyone could've possibly conceived back then that the film would be remade in the future using computers that make it virtually impossible to distinguish between animated imagery and reality.

Come to think of it, no apes were used in the remake of Planet of the Apes in 2001. The movie makeup for the actors was amazing and a big step up from 1968, which was a big step up for makeup as well in its day.
