The most successful crowdfunding campaign that I'm aware of was the Ouya video game console that was on Kickstarter last year achieving $8,596,474 in 30 days.
Now that record is well on its way to being surpassed.
This time it's the Ubuntu Edge smartphone campaign on Indiegogo.
So far in just 8 days they've raised $7,406,076!
With 22 days left in the campaign their goal is a mind blowing $32,000,000. It's a fixed funding campaign so they need to reach that level in order to succeed in securing the finances they raised.
Deadline is August 21 2013. We'll see what happens.
Check out the video and the campaign...
Wow. Cool product and an unbelievable goal. Would be pretty amazing to see this product made (love the unbreakable screen portion) and even more amazing to see a 32mil crowd-funding goal met.
Thanks for posting, Charles.

Looks like the all time record for a crowdfunding campaign has been broken with Uduntu Edge on Indiegogo.
The old record of $8,596,474 from last year's Ouya campaign on Kickstarter has been eclipsed. The new record is $9,691,735.
Alas, this will be in vain if the project doesn't meet it's goal of $32,000,000 by August 21 which is 9 days from now.
Whether or not its successful, a new milestone has been achieved!
The $10 mil crowdfunding barrier has been broken!
Ubuntu Edge is at $10,144,150 with 7 days to go to reach their $32 mil goal!
Even if they don't get it they've made their mark in history!
Indiegogo has now broken the world record for hosting the biggest crowdfunding campaign of all time! Thank you to everyone for making this happen, and for making history.
Canonical's Ubuntu Edge has over $10,267,352 pledged from more than 22,053 contributions from people in 63 countries. To find out more about the campaign, check out our infographic below:
The campaign wraps up on August 21 2013.
The Ubuntu Edge campaign on Indiegogo reached the astonishing level of 12,813,501.
That's hearly 50% beyond the old record for the Ouya on Kickstarter last year at this time.
Although it didn't make its $32 million goal it proved that crowdfunding can break into the 8 digit realm of funding levels.
As such it is being widely viewed as a success even though the nature of its fixed funding campaign won't permit access to the money they've raised.
Next time it'll be a different story!
Another reason to rejoice as the viability of crowdfunding has taken another big step forward!
