Laguna College of Art and Design is proud to announce the Eric Goldberg Animation Master Class for Summer 2012. This workshop will be held for 12 consecutive Saturdays at the Animation Department of LCAD in Laguna Beach, California from June 9th-August 25th.

Sixteen students will have the opportunity to work on all phases of a traditionally animated short film mentored by internationally-known director and animator Eric Goldberg.

The workshop is designed for advanced college level animators and recent graduates - this is not a beginning class. Acceptance into the class is by portfolio and reel review and participants should expect to devote 40-50 hours each week to the project (classroom facilities and equipment will be provided Monday-Saturday by the LCAD Animation Department.)

The deadline for application is May 1st, 2012. Tuition is US$2500 (payable upon acceptance.) To apply, please send a portfolio including a cover letter with your e-mail contact information and a $25 non-refundable application fee to:

All portfolios must be on CD-ROM and include digital images at 1920x1080 resolution of the following:

Storyboard Samples (3 images - minimum 12 panels total)
Character Designs (3 images - minimum 4 drawings per image)
Background Layouts (3 images - 1 drawing per image)
Traditional Animation Reel (1 Minute Quicktime 640x480 resolution MPEG-4 Compression)

Portfolios not in the correct format will not be reviewed. Accepted students and wait-listed candidates will be notified by May 7th, 2012 and full payment of tuition is due by June 1st, 2012. Students who miss the payment deadline will lose their place in the class to a candidate on the wait list.

Note that while the skill level of the class is designed for advanced college level animators or recent graduates, both the contest and the paid enrollment in the class are open to all artists, including international applicants. Final selection of the participants will be made by Eric's review of portfolios and reels.

Last year's Animation Master Class with Eric Goldberg at the Laguna College of Art and Design was a big hit. Here's the result of the experience. It's completed its film festival run and is available to view online.
