'Lester's Time Has Come Today' on Kickstarter

Hollywood is a wonderful place. Especially if you're a scum bag in a suit. This town has defined dishonesty and corruption on many levels and taught the rest of the corporate world how to follow in its footsteps.

Hollywood accounting is synonymous with outright theft. By developing a method of showing on the books that virtually every project they do makes no money, they've swindled artist after artist for decades upon end.

Perhaps the sector most notorious for this pig behavior is the music recording industry. There's a long long list of great musicians and songwriters who's been screwed out of royalties by these guys over generations.

By the way folks. Who's leading the charge to censor the Internet? Guessed Hollywood? Guessed right!

Now there's something called crowdfunding and a site that's leading the way in this new world of venture capitalism. It's called Kickstarter.com and along with many other sites devoted to this end, is fast revolutionizing how business is done not only in entertainment, but with business in general!

Business as usual is not business as usual any longer thanks to crowdfunding!

Lester Chambers was a member of The Chambers Brothers back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were a popular group that had a hot hit song that most classic rock aficionados will pick up on right away.

Anyway, know what the royalties they received on this song and the album were for 27 years? From 1969 up to 1996 they received ... that's right... zilch as in nothing. It was top of the charts back then and is played on the radio all the time and has also played in movies and probably commercials too.

But it made no money! Don;t believe me? Just ask the Hollywood accountants! How can they pay royalties on music that makes no money? It's all right there in the books!

Thanks to a good soul by the name of Alexis Ohanian and the perseverance of a now 72 year old Lester Chambers and his son there's a Kickstarter campaign devoted to getting Lester a budget so he can record an album on his own. No record companies, no crooked accountants, no 'get a lawyer' response from indifferent management types.

Just the musician and a straight path to his fans and supporters.

With 1,944 backers so far and 11 days to go, the $53,883 that's been pledged so far is well beyond the initial $39,000 goal.
