DW Griffith - "Intolerance" - 1916The other night I turned the channel to the cable station TCM (Turner Classic Movies) to see what was on. I was in luck as the motion picture masterpiece "Intolerance" was airing.
That's what makes this station great. They play movies from all time periods and from different countries as well, and they do it without interruption, commercial free. Thank you Ted Turner! Intolerance is regarded as one of the most important motion pictures in the history of the movies. It's long, running in excess of 3 hours, but it's worth it to see the film and to see people acting 95 years ago. Plus, the way the story is set up, it was revolutionary in its time and still to this day. Thanks to YouTube, Intolerance can be seen at least in a few parts on the Web. I can't find the entire movie on YouTube, but there's enough of it to give you a good idea as to what it's about. It is a must see movie for anyone aspiring to be a filmmaker. For those serious minded cinemaphiles out there in animation land, here it is, as much of it as I can find. Part 1 Part 2 Part 4
