Ban the Benjamins!

Postby skynet » Sun Dec 12, 2010 10:20 am

The United States government is having a little trouble printing up its newly designed $100 bills. More than 1 billion of these new Benjamins are unusable because they crease in the presses, leaving blank spots on the final product. It's an amusing minor story whose true significance has been missed. Why does the world need 1 billion $100 bills? Indeed, why does the U.S. continue to print C-notes at all?

In May 1976, an economist named James Henry published a wonderful essay in the Washington Monthly titled "Calling in the Big Bills." In it, he observed that "only two kinds of activities in the U.S." required the use of large-denomination currency. One was tax evasion, and the other was organized crime.

I totally disagree with this. As long as we have currency we should have notes up to 100. Whats next? the 50 then 20, then why should any "law abiding citizen" carry cash at all. Get a computer chip!

Besides, did you know the 20 is the most counterfitted bill...then the 100..sooooo

I should be able to carry and use any LEGAL TENDER...there's ways to detect counterfits that everyone can use.

this is getting ugly..they just want to end the use of tender for one world digital currency...then we're all fuked.
