He lived by some simple wisdom that he credits for his longenvity...

— Embrace change, even when the change slaps you in the face. ("Every change is good.")

— Eat two meals a day ("That's all you need.")

— Work as long as you can ("That money's going to come in handy.")

— Help others ("The more you do for others, the better shape you're in.")

GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Walter Breuning's earliest memories stretched back 111 years, before home entertainment came with a twist of the radio dial. They were of his grandfather's tales of killing Southerners in the Civil War.

Breuning was 3 and horrified: "I thought that was a hell of a thing to say."

When the oldest man in the world passes away, another is right behind him to take his place.

At 114 years old, Jirouemon Kimura of Japan gives sage advice.

Don't worry and be thankful.

Article.

Japan has 44,449 of its citizens who are 100 years old or older as of 2010.

Thanks for sharing that.

The advice I'll have to pass on is two meals a day. At 125 lbs., it's not an option for me. ;)

All change is good? Man, I'd like to hear how that works.

These days, I'd be happy reaching half of one of these guys' age. :)

Thanks again- good stuff.

Something else to celebrate when it comes to longevity.

This fine lady in Nebraska is 102 years young, she's been working since she was 18, and is only now retiring, but has plans to continue working on with another job if she feels like it.

Read all about it and watch news video here.

How does it feel to become an Internet sensation and international phenom when you’re 90 years old?

How about when you’re 100 years old?

Answer: Exhilarating — and exhausting.

Just ask Rose Pollard Lunsway, 90, and Forrest Lunsway, 100. The California couple of nearly 30 years have been making headlines because they just got around to tying the knot — on Forrest’s 100th birthday. Media outlets call the pair every day, and congratulatory notes have been pouring in from all over the world. Even President Barack Obama sent one, along with a birthday card for the groom.

Seems like 114 is the magic number for the oldest humans on Earth.

This charming lady in Brazil currently holds the record.

Brazilian takes crown as world's oldest person

The 114-year-old attributes longevity to eating a daily roll of bread and fruit for breakfast

A 114-year-old Brazilian woman is the world's oldest living human, Guinness World Records said Wednesday.

Maria Gomes Valentim attributes her longevity to eating a daily roll of bread for breakfast along with fruit — though she indulges in the occasional nip of wine.

Guinness said that Valentim, aged 114 years and 313 days, is 48 days older than the person previously considered the world's oldest human, Besse Cooper from Monroe, Georgia.

Cooper now holds the title of the oldest living North American.

Guinness verified that Valentim was born on July 9, 1896, in Carangola in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais, where she has always lived.
