They got what they wanted - Low paying jobs in the USFor years we could see it coming. The pressure by big business and the government they've bought to squeeze the American middle class into submission. Low paying jobs that would guarantee maximum corporate profitability.
After decades of economic progress that directly lead to a quality of life for the American middle class that was the highest standard of living in the world, now we're facing a future where the system and institutions that facilitated that prosperity are working against us, not to mention what we've done to ourselves through complacency, ignorance and foolishness. ................ A U.S. recovery built on low-paying jobs The economy is not creating opportunities at the high end By Joshua Zumbrun and Shobhana Chandra Before she lost her job last November as a full-time health department caseworker in Aurora, Ill., Amy Valle was making $23 an hour. Now she's paid $10 an hour as a part-time assistant coordinator in an after-school program. "From here on out, it will be a struggle," says Valle, 32, whose husband lost his $50,000 government job and still is out of work after a year. "I don't feel like there's any place we can go to get what we were getting paid." While the unemployment rate dropped to 9 percent in January, from a two-decade peak of 10.1 percent in October 2009, many of the jobs people are now taking don't match the pay, the hours, or the benefits of the 8.75 million positions that vanished in the recession, according to Paul Ashworth, chief U.S. economist at Capital Economics in Toronto. This may restrain wage and salary growth, limiting gains in consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of the U.S. economy. The good jobs that would trigger a solid boost in spending just don't seem to be there. Read article here.
Re: They got what they wanted - Low paying jobs in the USThanks for posting- serious business.
Re: They got what they wanted - Low paying jobs in the USPeople are better off trying to do their own thing to survive in this totally messed up human disaster of a world. Screw the big companies that are slowly squeezing people to death. Everyone who wants to live a normal life has to learn how to build their own way of survival. It's either that or just keep struggling as helpless slaves for life. I mean, we are all already slaves to the private bank that makes our fake money. If you look closely, the slavery goes so many levels deep to the point where on one can see any way out, no matter where you run... but we are trapped running in circles in a house of mirrors, sucked into the illusions.
There seems to be a mysterious insanity that is slowly driving everything into chaos and destruction. There is an overwhelming stupidity and greed that is eating up the possibility of a decent human reality and as population rises, it just gets worse. At this rate, the future is a very very sad vision.... I hope humans can ultimately wake up, come together and rise above the madness.
