Costa Mesa, CA: The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity announced today that on Friday, September 21st, they will present a Chuck Jones Centennial Celebration Film Festival at the historic Alex Theatre in downtown Glendale, California. The Festival will begin at 8 PM and will feature many of Jones’s most loved cartoons from his seven decade career.
Ticket prices range from $10.00 to $50.00 and are available at the Alex Theatre Box Office or online at
www.AlexTheatre.org.
The ticket price will benefit the programs of the Center, a 501(c)3 public charity.
The evening will include cartoons, reminiscences, and laughter provided by these special guests: George Daugherty, Symphonic conductor, Creator and Conductor of Bugs Bunny On Broadway and Bugs Bunny at the Symphony, producer/director of Chuck Jones Peter and The Wolf, Emmy Award winning producer and director for ABC, Warner Bros., and PBS; Eric Goldberg, Director of Pocahontas, Fantasia/2000, Animation Supervisor of Aladdin, Princess and the Frog, and Hercules; Jerry Beck, author of The Fifty Greatest Cartoons, A Complete Guide to the Warner Bros. Cartoons, and a pre-eminent cartoon historian; Linda Jones Clough, animation art entrepreneur, Emmy Award-winning producer of Chuck Jones Peter and the Wolf and Chuck’s daughter along with Dr. Peter Keller--Director of the Bowers Museum, Dr. Steven Levine, President of CalArts, and film director Joe Dante.
“September 21st is the 100th birthday of my grandfather and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than to present an evening of his most beloved cartoons,” said Craig Kausen, Chairman of the Chuck Jones Center for Creativity. “I think he would have been delighted to have been feted in such a manner, in a room filled with laughter at the antics of his cherished actors. Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, Pepé le Pew, Marc Anthony, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck surely embody his spirit, wit, and wisdom and are a legacy that truly has no age.”
The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity was founded in 1999 by the four-time Academy Award-recipient and legendary animation creator and director. Located in Costa Mesa, California, the Center’s vision is to inspire the innate creative genius within each person that leads to a more joyous, passionate, and harmonious life and world. The Center is dedicated to re-invigorating the creative spirit and is doing it through art classes, exhibitions, lectures, and film festivals, all of which spring from the material in the Chuck Jones archive. Jones was a determined saver and his writings, art, and other ephemera from a nine-decade life, along with his philosophy of guiding and nurturing instruction, form the basis of the Center’s programs.
