LA Animation Festival and how AN inspired it

In the animation community where short term memory seems to be an ever increasing challenge to overcome, I like to make it a point of documenting how AN has helped inspire good things in this biz.

Few people and organizations have given credit where credit is due when it comes to the many very positive things that AnimationNation has done, including motivating others to move things forward in their own way for all.

In 2006, I was contacted by a fellow named Miles Flanigan. He related to me that he had read up on AN and was excited about what our movement represented. He was talking about starting a film festival and sure enough, the next year in 2007, there was the first Los Angeles Animation Festival was launched. It was the first animation film festival in LA in over 5 years.

I noticed over at CartoonBrew, there's a video wrap up of this year's LAAF, which I found on YouTube and which I'm embedding here.

AN's impact on animation has been far reaching, and in ways that people may not even realize or remember.

Here's the video of this year's Los Angeles Animation Festival held last month in Hollywood. Includes footage of Miles Flanigan as well.
