Jeff Massie at the Guild's blog posted something that's of interest to everyone living in the LA area and who's involved in film production, animated or live action.

At the core of his subject is a website / movement called Film Works LA.

Film Works L.A. is a stakeholder-driven education and outreach campaign centered around filming in Los Angeles. It’s also an effort to combat the problem of runaway production, which is when film and television productions leave California to shoot in other states and/or nations.

Two years ago, California finally launched some tax incentives to help encourage local film production to stay in the state. There was an immediate upswing in film production here.

Now those tax incentives have expired resulting in production leaving the area once again.

Film Works LA is trying to do something about it.

Visit their website for more info and updates.
