Simple animation of complex mechanics

A friend shared some animated gif files with me, and I thought it would be cool to share them with the community.

Haven't tried this before on the new forums, so let's give it a whirl and see what happens when I attach these files to a posting.

Here's some animation describing what's termed a "Maltese Cross" movement. It's used in clock mechanics.

That works. Okay then, let's try another one.

Here's animation describing the operation of a radial engine. The kind that would normally be used for an aircraft.

The only description I have of this is "oval regulation". Offhand I don't know what it would be used for, but it's interesting to watch.

This is described as a "constant velocity universal joint" as one would find in an auto.

And here's what an inline engine for an auto looks like, with the cylinders lined up side by side as opposed to a "V" shape.
