Kickstarting the first the world's first oil painted feature

Oscar winning Hugh Welchman and his BreakThru Films (Peter and the wolf) are currently Kickstarting a feature length film based on the life and controversial death of Vincent Van Gogh, and in a medium he would approve of: Oil paintings.

The film will be produced entirely as oil paintings on canvas.

Loving Vincent features over 120 of Vincent Van Gogh's greatest paintings. The plot, drawn from the 800 letters written by the painter himself, leads us to the significant people and events in the time leading up to his unexpected death.

Vincent wrote in his last letter: “Well, the truth is, we cannot speak other than by our paintings”, and that is what we are doing- letting his paintings tell the story of what the painter had inside his heart, and ultimately, what happened to him.

Have a look at the Kickstarter campaign

They are close to their goal, but not quite there yet.
