Saving Walt and Roy Disney’s Birthplace

Postby super78 » Mon Dec 16, 2013 5:50 pm

We’d like to invite members of the animation community to own a part of the Disney story and to help us make history. The dream of The Walt Disney Birthplace Preservation Project is to restore, landmark and preserve the home, built by Walt’s parents Elias and Flora Disney in 1893, because it is the true “Chapter One” of the Disney saga.

As professionals in the media industry, we simply couldn’t let this house continue its slide into obscurity. If left in the hands of an indifferent party, the house would be “renovated” out of significance at best, torn down at worst.

So we purchased the home and have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the restoration. Here is the link to our Kickstarter project page:

And we want to thank Charles Zembillas for sharing the great news report about the project towards the bottom of this thread:

We can't do this without the support of the Disney community. And we hope that other members of the industry that Walt and Roy were so instrumental in developing will join us in this effort to “Restore The Magic.”

Thanks so much!
