Animated features in LA - Following the TV model?

Postby Charles » Sat Nov 30, 2013 5:55 am

This came to me from a friend who's worked in feature films at the major studios for many years. He's under the impression that the trend for production in his field will follow the model for TV production in animation.

That is, he believes that pre-production design and development will stay centered in the LA market while the actual production aspect of a project will eventually migrate to remote locations such as India and China.

Time will tell.

In any case, we've long admonished the need for developing an Independent Economy in animation. Today with the advent of crowdfunding sites such as Kickstarter and Indiegogo along with the widespread exposure that the Internet affords there's really no excuse to prepare in advance for what may become an inevitability in our business if you work on that production side of things in the feature film studios in LA.

Sharing the info and insight.

Good luck and Keep Creating!
