Bee and PuppyCat - Mega Kickstarter $ucce$$

Don't ya just love it when an animated property intended to circumvent the gatekeepers in traditional entertainment media finds huge success through crowdfunding?

Yet again that is indeed the case today as a project entitled "Bee and PuppyCat" wrapped up their Kickstarter campaign just a few hours ago and I'm sure are celebrating the great results.

They exceeded their $600,000 goal with a final tally of $872,133 raised through 18,209 backers!

Bee and PuppyCat is the brainchild of Natasha Allegri. You can see her creative works here. It's been featured on Cartoon Hangover and on Kickstarter through Frederator.

The huge success of the Bee and PuppyCat campaign means that nine episodes in the series will be produced.

Take a look at the promotional video below. I particularly appreciate what Frederator founder Fred Seibert has to say about how the Internet and crowdfunding is helping projects move directly towards their audience outflanking the obstacles of broadcast TV. Then watch an episode of the cartoon for an idea as to what we can expect to see now that it's been greenlit by the fans...
