John Carter of Mars

"John Carter of Mars" is a series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

A movie is on the way, directed by Pixar’s Andrew Stanton. It's scheduled to hit theaters by March 9, 2012.

I started some research into it and found this amazing footage, I guess it's narrated by the great Bob Clampett, of animation produced in the 1930s intended to be an animated production of the the same title.

I'm very excited about this film although I know very litte about it. I haven't read Andrew Stanton's screenplay although I did read an earlier draft by Ted Elliot and Terry Rosio. This was at least ten years ago and I've always had high hopes for this project.

I did have a chance to speak with Andrew a couple years ago. This was just before filming was to begin on his movie. Since that time I haven't heard much. I guess Disney/Pixar is keeping a tight lid on this movie. It was great to finally see a poster, however.

Those John Carter stories just ruled.

That Bob Clampett video makes me sit back wondering what would it have been like to have had him bring John Carter to life.
