Aardman's Pirates Sets Sail with All-Star Cast

Press Release from Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, and Aardman Animations

CULVER CITY, Calif., May 5, 2011 -- Hugh Grant will voice the lead role alongside an all-star cast in The Pirates! Band of Misfits, the new stop-motion, 3D, animated film produced by Aardman Animations for Sony Pictures Animation. The film, which will be distributed by Columbia Pictures, will be released March 30, 2012 in North America.

Pirates! Release Hunger Games Parody

In a new 30-second clip released yesterday, Sony Pictures Animation assembled footage from the forthcoming Pirates! Band of Misfits and edited it to resemble the fierce competition of The Hunger Games.

Showcasing the film’s action-packed hi-jinks, the new clip from Pirates! offers an overview of the characters and some of the shenanigans they become entangled in during the course of the story. Pirates! Band of Misfits is being released nationwide on April 27, 2012.
