First off, congrats on learning Maya. It's a powerful tool that will work to your creative advantage the better you get with it.

Your character appears to float, especially in the second video. Look to add a feeling of weight to its movements. For example, when it jumps, get it off the ground, hold it just for a bit at the apex of its height, then put gravity to work and drop it down to the surface a little quicker. You'll see a big improvement in the quality, believability and liveliness of the motion.
