Stash 72 spells serious fun for anyone addicted to motion: 31 spectacular projects including the enigmatic bonus film compilation "We are Bare Bones" PLUS a great selection of Behind the Scenes extras and five bonus MP3 tracks courtesy of Canadian indie label Red Couch Recordings.
First up, the tricky VFX showcase called "Cubehead" for Drench from MPC in London (bet you can't guess how they did it), Reino in Buenos Aries brings new meaning to the term pecker head for Twistos, Motion Theory constructs "A Better Bullseye" for Target, MPC continues their hot streak with a massive cast of sea critters for Cadbury, Buck is back in a big way with a fluid new spot for Nike World Basketball and San Francisco's Mekanism dreams up a vibrant fantasy for Case-Mate.
MTV Latin America and Plenty drive us into the broadcast and title design section with a spectacular clash of airbourne absraction, Nathan Love shakes up NBC exec's with an offbeat update of the peacock, LA's Royale laugh it up with a hectic brand exploration for Comedy Central, Brand New School re-style Cartoon Network, Sydney director/designer Patrick Clair slaps the face on a show called "HungryBeast" then builds a conspiratorial infographic about Google, and Tokyo director Takuya Hosogane gets "Disruptive" with his conference open for Wired Magazine.
We break open the second half of Stash 72 with the latest creative release from Kansas City motion legends MK12, a lesson in cool absurdity called "Telephoneme".
UK director Neal Coghlan continues the graphic fun with his compilation of VJ loops, until Amsterdam studio Champagne Valentine steer us down a darker road with the book promotion for "Black Material" which, in turn, sets the perfect mood for Marco Brambilla's video painting of Kanye West before we veer back into the light with the video debut from Norwegian/British design duo Non-Format called "Even Your Friend" and "Wanderland" from Belgians Kristof Luyckx and Michele Vanparys.
Stash 72 also contains a heaping helping of hardcore 3D action. Check out: "Azureus Rising" from San Diego's Black Sun Entertainment, "Singularity" from Glasgow's own Axis Animation, and "Who Do You Trust" for DC Universe Online from Blur Studio in Venice, CA.
That takes us full circle and back to ad land for HP "Hit Print" from freshly-graduated UK directors Tom Wrigglesworth and Matt Robinson, McDonald's "Spaceman Stu" from Swiss/US studio Kompost, Bank Coop "Evolution" from Sehsucht in Hamburg and VW "Tiguan" by Jonny Kofoed and Oktober in Auckland.
Bonus Films, Behind the Scenes, Bonus Music
Then, to balance our karma, we indulge in some art-for-art's-sake with an eclectic selection of short films: "Between Bears" by Eran Hilleli, "Howard" by Julia Pott, the "The Return Of John Frum" by Christian Schlaeffer and our bonus compilation called "We are Bare Bones" from directors Matt Lambert, Andy Martin, Ross McDonnell, Niall O'Brien, Sean Pecknold and Matt Smithson.
